This 5-day cross-border safari is the perfect journey for travellers with limited time but a desire to witness the best of East Africa’s wildlife spectacles. You’ll begin in Kenya’s world –

The famous Masai Mara, known for its abundant big cats and dramatic landscapes. Then, cross into Tanzania for an authentic bush experience in the endless plains of Serengeti, concluding with a spectacular descent into the Ngorongoro Crater – often referred to as Africa’s Eden. Ideal for nature lovers, wildlife photographers, and adventurers seeking a compact but powerful experience across two iconic countries.

Itinerary Details

Day 1: Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park

Drive time:  Approx. 5 –6 hours

  • Your safari adventure begins with an early morning pickup in Nairobi. Drive through the Great Rift Valley escarpments with photo stops and scenic views before reaching the rolling
  • plains of the Masai Mara.
  • Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, set off for your first game drive in the Masai Mara —a world-renowned reserve teeming with lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, and possibly the elusive leopard or cheetah.

Day 2: Masai Mara Full Game Drive

Today you’ll explore the heart of the Masai Mara with a full-day game drive. Packed lunch boxes allow you to venture deeper into the reserve, following herds of wildebeest, antelope, and predators like lions and hyenas.

Depending on the season, you may witness river crossings during the Great Migration (July – October). Optional visit to a traditional Maasai village can be arranged in the evening.

Day 3: Masai Mara – Serengeti National Park (Tanzania)

Border crossing at Isebania | Drive time:  Long day with game viewing en route After an early breakfast, drive to the Isebania border where your Kenyan guide will help with exit procedures.

Meet your Tanzanian guide after immigration and continue the adventure south into Serengeti National Park.

Enjoy a game drive en route to your camp, spotting animals across the rolling plains that define the Serengeti ecosystem.

Day 4: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After brunch, depart Serengeti and drive toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ascend the highlands with sweeping views and arrive at your lodge on the crater rim or nearby forested slopes.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

Drive time:  Approx. 4 –5 hours

Begin the day with a morning game drive in central Serengeti while tracking prides of lions, herds of elephants, and possibly leopards resting in trees.

After brunch, depart Serengeti and drive toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ascend the highlands with sweeping views and arrive at your lodge on the crater rim or nearby forested slopes.

After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater – the largest unbroken caldera in the world and home to over 25,000 animals.

This natural amphitheater offers the highest density of wildlife in Africa, including rhinos, lions, hyenas, and hippos. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the crater lake before beginning the drive back to Arusha, where your safari ends in the late afternoon.
